| Marin County is a great place for tennis lovers. There are dozens of locations for tennis enthusiasts to enjoy the game, which can be played pretty much ten months out of the year. Check some of these locations below for both public and private courts. I used to be a tennis player and have played at pretty much every court in town, so don't hesitate to call me with any questions. |

This members-only Club is an expansive indoor-outdoor health, fitness, swim and tennis club with facilities to accommodate up to 700 people for events. The tennis facilities include thirteen tennis courts – five indoor and eight outdoor, including a ball machine court. The tennis program has specifically designed, ongoing programs like Men’s Day, Ladies Day, Open House night, and monthly free clinics that help get you out on the court, playing with and meeting other members. The comprehensive pro shop specializes in personal attention and the six tennis pros offer lessons, tournament direction, and coaching skills. The club also has indoor and outdoor pools; a café; a Health Center offering massage, physical therapy, and Feldenkreis programs; and a gym with state-of-the-art fitness equipment and classes. The club began in the 1950s as a swim club, but in the 1970s added tennis facilities in response to the growing popularity of the sport. The club is situated on three acres in Kentfield, with nine outdoor tennis courts and three solar-heated swimming pools. Two tennis pros provide lessons, coach the popular kid clinics that lead to match play, and oversee the men’s and women’s leagues of all skill levels. The members-only club also has a pro shop and an 18,000 square foot gym that focuses on strength training. The club prides itself in being a kid-friendly, family oriented club and hosts many barbeques throughout the year. |

Established in 1959, this Club is known as a family-friendly club that offers excellent facilities for tennis and swimming. The San Rafael location has views from the Clubhouse of Mt. Tamalpais and views of the San Francisco Bay from the pool deck. The tennis facilities include nine hard surface courts that are individually fenced, two challenge courts (hot courts) and viewing patios on competition and lesson courts. Four pros comprise the staff and several programs are offered, such as Fun Doubles mixers, tournaments, adult USTA and Marin Ladies League, and Junior Tennis Leagues. The club also has a 25-yard pool with five competition lanes; a baby pool for children under the age of five; a fitness room with personal trainers, yoga classes, and a full range of training equipment; and a Café serving local favorites. Founded in 1957, this small family-oriented private club offers tennis instruction as well as competitive play. The club has seven hard tennis courts and two are lit for night play. Three tennis pros instruct at all levels and ages, with a focus on junior instruction. For the competitive player, there are several USTA and other leagues to join. The club also has a year-round heated pool and a snack bar is open on weekends. Membership is capped at 200 families. Social events are popular at this close-knit informal club. A member-owned club with five tennis courts, a swimming pool, a barbeque patio and a clubhouse with fireplace, bar and grill. Founded in 1929, the club is dedicated to friendly, competitive tennis play. Throughout its history, the club has hosted premier tennis competitions and its teams compete in a wide-range of league tournaments and events. The USTA Marin Seniors Tournament is held at the MVTC every June. The club pro offers private and group lessons. Club social functions include barbecues and a Friday night happy hour. Located in the quiet, rolling hills of Fairfax this club features seven hard courts (three lighted) and one classic, clay court. The club also has a Junior Olympic pool with lap and family swimming, heated to 82 degrees all year. The pool and tennis courts are surrounded by permanent open space. The Clubhouse has a fireplace, a satellite TV, and a kitchen. The locker rooms have shower and sauna facilities. The club was established 28 years ago and was purchased in 1999 by the Native Sons of the Golden West. The first Friday of each month is free guest day. |

For over 20 years, Dave Kregel has been single-handedly running his no-frills tennis center. The Center has four fenced courts; two are lighted for night play and a no-charge ball machine is available for practice. Kregel is director and pro, specializing in private lessons, but also providing semi-private and group lessons. The Center’s membership fees and monthly dues are decidedly the most cost-effective in Marin County. |

Mill Valley’s private tennis club has six state-of-the-art Plexicushion 2000 courts and one classic clay court. The club also has a full-size lap pool, a Jacuzzi, a kiddie pool, a pro shop, and a well-equipped gym with locker and shower facilities. Tennis lessons are given by their USPTA certified pro. Harbor Point offers lots of activities and is active in several leagues and hosts tournaments throughout the year. Friday night mixers are held once a month from May through September. Extremely private, small, members-only tennis and swim club located in a woodsy valley in Ross. The club welcomes new members that are sponsored by present members in a “summer guest” program. The club has an unheated pool and four tennis courts, two of which are elevated and can be viewed from a deck off of the clubhouse. |

This private club prides takes pride in providing comprehensive full-service recreation to its members and their guests. The club has four tennis courts (two are lit), in addition to an 18-hole golf course, a fitness center, a swimming complex and a Clubhouse that offers fine dining and other amenities. Tennis activities include group clinics for adults, camps for juniors, pro exhibitions, and the popular twilight leagues. Individual lessons are also offered and new members receive a complimentary private lesson. The tennis pro specializes in private instruction and coaching. Perhaps the largest tennis club in the County, this club boasts twelve tennis courts (eight are lit) that are resurfaced every four years. Located in the sunny Dominican Area of San Rafael, the club offers numerous club tournaments, league teams at a variety of play levels, comprehensive training programs for adults and juniors, lessons and private clinics from a choice of three professionals, and a friendly and active membership. The facilities also include a full-service café, a swimming pool, saunas and Jacuzzis, and an exercise room. There are many social activities including bridge nights, backgammon, parties, and other events. A customized seven-point service program welcomes new members. In addition to tennis, this 7.5-acre, state-of-the-art sports training center offers swimming (two pools plus a baby pool), two racquetball courts, fitness conditioning and personal training, yoga and pilates classes, two Jacuzzis, and a rejuvenating day-spa. The club has twelve outdoor tennis courts, with six lighted for night play. Four certified teaching professionals are on staff for group and private lessons. Tournaments are held year-round and there are leagues for juniors and adults, the ladies’ league is especially active. The pro shop is open daily. Founded in 1974, the club is member-owned with a strong family orientation and a membership capped at 400 families. Located on 6.5 acres on a hill in Mill Valley the facilities include swimming, tennis and fitness. The upper level tennis complex includes four lighted regulation tennis courts. The lower level tennis complex has two regulation tennis courts, a ball machine court, and a bathroom/deck area. Three tennis pros teach classes for all levels and ages and assist with tournaments. The year-round facilities include one of the finest competition pools in the county at 25 feet long and six lanes wide; a wading pool for small children; a Jacuzzi hot tub; and a fitness center with stationary equipment and free weights. The Clubhouse has a fireplace and a flat panel TV. The club has social events such as winter holiday parties and summer barbeques. The TPC is a membership owned, private club offering tennis, swimming, fitness, and family social activities. There are ten hard courts with six lit for night play. Tennis activities include four adult leagues and one of the best junior programs in Northern California. The tennis staff has eight pros that provide private, group, and team lessons for adults and private and group lessons and clinics for juniors from age five to teens. TPC also offers aquatic programs in the three pools, a fitness facility with massage therapy, and personal training programs. Family social events include barbeques and holiday parties.
